The first idea I explored was having images of a classy looking gentleman with a suitcase to represent the ‘Ted’ Character taking his brand to somewhere new, with the suitcase implying that his product is inside it.
To explore the ideas I had, I brainstormed different things to do with travelling and also British humor. My main idea was of creating a character named simply ‘Ted’ and having images or typography to do with this character. I then thought of different ideas and thoughts to do with the idea of travelling and bringing Britain along with it. I latched on to this and thought of ideas to do with these concepts. When first reading the brief it mentioned the tag line ‘Taking Ted Travelling’ and the thought of taking British humor with it. It opened a store on Fifth Avenue in New York in August 2012. Ted Baker has stores and outlets in the rest of Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, Asia, South Africa and the Middle East. There is a Ted Baker concession in all Selfridges & Co stores London, Birmingham, Manchester and the Trafford Centre. Ted Baker also has stores at Bicester Village Retail Outlet, Swindon Designer Outlet, Portsmouth's Gunwharf Quays and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. The Ted Baker range is also sold by other retailers (which it refers to as Ted Baker Trustees), in particular in stores of the John Lewis Partnership and House of Fraser.
Ted Baker has a number of stand-alone stores in the UK.
